Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp schmiedickeanus Synonyms- Echinocactus schmiedickeanus, Strombocactus schmiedickeanus, Toumeya schmiedickeanus, Neolloydia schmiedickeanus, Pediocactus schmiedickeanus. Description- Body- Solitary globular depressed, 30mm high 30-40mm wide dull green. Root- Taproot. Tubercles- Pyramidal, rhomboid at the base. Spines- Radials- None. Centrals- 2 very papery grey-brown very twisted, 20mm long. Flowers- Apical funnel shaped white with magenta midstripe 25mm wide. Fruits- Brown. Distribution- La Perdida in the municipality of Miquihuana in the state of Tamaulipas (Mexico). Altitude 1200m. Notes- This species is easy to cultivate but slow growing. Very yearly flowering. Requires full sun and careful watering to keep plant compact. |
