Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp flaviflorus Synonyms- Turbinicarpus flaviflorus, Neolloydia schmiedickeana var flaviflora, Pediocactus schmiedickeanus var flaviflorus. Description- Body- Solitary globular to cylindrical, 30mm high 15-20mm wide partly underground grey-greenish. Root- Taproot. Tubercles- Conical rhomboid at the base. Spines- Radials- 4-6 papery ivory-brown with darker tips 16mm long. Centrals- None. Flowers- Apical funnel shaped pale greenish-yellow 20mm wide. Fruits- Dark green at base with greenish-brown upper part, oval, 10mm long. Distribution- Guadalcazar in the state of San Lois Potosi (Mexico). Altitude 1700m. Notes- This species is easy to cultivate. Requires full sun and careful watering to keep plant compact. |
