Turbinicarpus hoferi


Synonyms- Pediocactus hoferi.


Description-

   Body- Solitary, globular depressed, 35mm diameter, grey-green.

   Root- Taproot.

   Tubercles- Round to rhomboid, conical.

   Spines- Radials- 4-8 rigid white-grey with darker tip 10mm long.

               Centrals- None.

   Flowers- White 25mm long, 15-20mm wide.

   Fruits- Greenish becoming brown 5-7mm long, 3.5-4mm wide.


Distribution- Aramberri in the state of Nuevo Leon (Mexico). Altitude 1200-1300m.


Notes-

Slow growing species and not easy to cultivate. Requires good ventilation. Prefers 1/3 Gypsum in potting mix.
