Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus Synonyms- Pelecyphora pseudopectinatus, Mammillaria pseudopectinata, Thelocactus pseudopectinatus, Normanbokea pseudopectinatus, Pediocactus pseudopectinatus, Pelecyphora pulcherrima. Description- Body- Solitary, globular depressed, 20-30mm high, 20-35mm wide green-violet. Root- Taproot. Tubercles- Elongated vertically, 3mm high. Spines- Radials- 50 (approx), pectinate straight, white 1mm long. Centrals- None. Flowers- White with reddish or magenta midribs 18-26mm wide. Fruits- Greenish, nearly round 7-8mm long. Distribution- Large distribution and found in the states of San Luis Potosi, Nuevo Leon and Tamalipas (Mexico). Altitude 1200-2000m. Notes- This species shows close resemblance to Pelcyphora aselliformis and Mammillaria pectinifera when young and without flowers or fruit. Fairly easy to cultivate providing given full sun and careful watering. |
