Turbinicarpus bonatzii |
Turbinicarpus bonatzii Synonyms- Pediocactus bonatzii, Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp bonatzii. Description- Body- Solitary, globular depressed, 15-20mm diameter dark green-bluish. Root- Taproot. Tubercles- Conical to rhomboid. Spines- Radials- 3-5 white with darker tips 3-5mm long. Centrals- 0-1 brown 12-15mm long. Flowers- Rose coloured with lighter margins 10mm long, 12-15mm wide. Fruits- Brown magenta. Distribution- Cerritos in the state of San Lois Potosi (Mexico). Altitude 1000-1100m. Notes- Discovered in 1991 by H J Bonatz this species is closely related to Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp klinkerianus and is very early flowering. This species requires full sun and careful watering to keep plant flat and compact. |
