Turbinicarpus gielsdorfianus Synonyms- Echinocactus gielsdorfianus, Neolloydia gielsdorfianus, Thelocactus gielsdorfianus, Gymnocactus gielsdorfianus, Pediocactus gielsdorfianus. Description- Body- Usually solitary occasionally clustering, globular to slightly cylindrical, 50-70mm high 45-50 wide green-bluish to yellow-green. Root- Swollen bundled. Tubercles- Broad angular conical pyramid to 3-5mm long. Spines- Radials- 6-8 white radiating straight 20mm long. Centrals- 0-1 whiteish with darker tips 18-20mm long. Flowers- White with darker midribs 13-25mm long, 15-20mm wide. Fruits- Light green slightly elongated 5-6mm long and 3-4mm wide. Distribution- Valley of Jaumave, Tamaulipas in the state of San Lois Potosi (Mexico). Notes- This species is easy to cultivate and fast growing. Requires full sun and careful watering to keep plant compact. |
